Jon Dibblee was Heather’s Junior National Team Coach

I have so many great memories from when he coached me on the Junior National Team; however, it was after that when one of my favorite memories occurred. Summer Nationals in Annapolis 1998 – I took the greyhound bus with a teammate from NYC to Annapolis and we got dropped off in the middle of a parking lot instead of a bus station (this is before most people had cell phones). We walked across the street with all of our luggage to what looked like a grocery store to find a pay phone and call a taxi. Out of nowhere, I hear “Kohler?” It was Jon Dibblee! Our lifesaver! Of course he knew where our Davis team was staying and drove us there. My favorite quote from Jon was – “Never give up; persevere and believe in yourself (even when people people say you are too small)!”
